En este trabajo se evaluó el efecto de la angulación de segundo orden en el deslizamiento en sistemas arco bracket usado en ortodoncia. Los brackets y alambres utilizados en este estudio son de acero inoxidable AISI 316L. La angulación se hizo en 0°, 2°, 4°, 6° y 8°, y la resistencia al deslizamiento fue medida con una máquina universal de ensayos a una velocidad de 5mm/s. La evaluación de las superficies deslizadas se hizo por microscopía óptica de luz reflejada y electrónica de barrido. Los resultados mostraron que la resistencia a la fricción aumenta con la angulación, pero depende fuertemente de la geometría de la ranura y los módulos de rigidez del bracket y el alambre. Abstract— In this work the effect of second order angulation on sliding resistance for orthodontic wire-bracket couples was evaluated. Both the evaluated wires and brackets were made of AISI 316L stainless steel. The tests were performed at angles of 0°, 2°, 4°, 6° and 8°, by means of a universal testing machine at 5 mm/s. The surfaces were evaluated via scanning electron and optical microscopy. The results showed that the frictional resistance increases proportionally to the angulation of the wire, but at the same time, this frictional resistance strongly depended on the geometry of the slot and the Young´s modulus of the bracket and the wire. .
