Scope
Revista Ingeniería Biomédica (Biomedical Engineering Journal) is a biannual technical-scientific publication edited by University EIA. The journal is dedicated to publishing research in all areas of biomedical engineering, including but not limited to: biotechnology, biomaterials, bioinstrumentation, digital signal processing, biomechanical and rehabilitation engineering, clinical engineering, and any other area relevant to the field.
Revista Ingeniería Biomédica is an Open Access journal, as defined by the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). Thus, the information published in the journal is available free of charge online. This information may be reproduced, printed, and distributed provided that the journal and authors of the manuscript are cited accordingly.
Revista Ingeniería Biomédica mission is to foment the consolidation of a scientific community engaged in the advancing of the Biomedical Engineering and Bioengineering fields, and other related areas of study, by constituting a platform for the diffusion of new scientific knowledge and by fostering the introduction of technological solutions devised for the particular conditions existing in South American countries. Therefore, it seeks to consolidate as an open space not only to the scientific and academic community but also to the productive sectors related to the area, which tend to be alien to the developments but are fundamental to achieve applied research.
The journal is aimed at professionals and students in the biomedical engineering bioengineering fields, and other areas alike, who are involved in the academic, scientific, or industry sectors. The interaction of these sectors through the journal is expected to facilitate the application or clinical translation of the original research published in Revista Ingeniería Biomédica.
Peer review process
Every article goes through an initial revision process by the Editorial Board, with the technical advice of the Scientific Committee when required. Approved articles will be sent to evaluation by two experts from the relevant field and external to University EIA, which will decide if the manuscript is suitable for publication. To facilitate this step, the authors must send the name and address of three possible peer expert evaluators in the subject. This process is completely anonymous for both authors and evaluators (double-blind). Once the author receives the comments from the reviewers, it will have to proceed to answer every item and incorporate the corresponding modifications in the text.
