e-ISSN 2463-0950

The Revista EIA is a scientific publication, an open access journal, with a biannual periodicity, whose purpose is the dissemination of science and research findings in the field of engineering, technological development and innovation. With themes in the following fields: a) environment, b) energy, c) infrastructure and land management, d) natural resources: water, minerals and biodiversity, e) organization and industry; f) sustainable development, g) modeling, h) robotics, automation and instrumentation, i) materials, j) natural sciences, k) life sciences: biomedical, biotechnology, instrumentation for health.

It is a space open to the national and international scientific and academic community. For this reason, the Revista EIA provides free and immediate access to its content, under the editorial principle that making scientific and technical information available increases ties with the world scientific community and the exchange of global knowledge. Reading the Revista EIA is of primary interest to researchers, professionals, teachers and students of higher education who wish to update or deepen on engineering, technological development and innovation issues.

The Revista EIA stimulates scientific discussion as a means for the production of refined knowledge. Therefore, at least two evaluators external to the Editorial Committee and usually also external to the sponsoring institution give their specialized opinion about each article that is submitted to their judgment.

Peer review process

Full compliance with the instructions for authors is reflected in shorter times in the editorial process.

1)The Revista EIA will acknowledge receipt of all manuscripts within 30 days from the complete submission (including complementary files), reserving the right to make the decision not to publish a certain manuscript, without it being necessary to submit it to the arbitration system.

2) Manuscripts sent to the Revista EIA for possible publication are subject to a first review by the editor, to verify that the manuscript complies with what is requested in the instructions for authors and its relevance to the scope of the journal. Likewise, they will evaluate the writing and clarity of the ideas presented. At the end of this preliminary evaluation, it will be decided whether the manuscript is submitted for peer evaluation. The manuscript can be definitively rejected in this part of the process according to the editor's comments.

3) If the manuscript passes the preliminary evaluation favorably, it will be submitted to an arbitration process by peer evaluators, both national and foreign, using the "double blind" technique. The evaluating referees will be specialists of high level and recognized in their area, assigned to national or foreign institutions, with skills to reliably and expeditiously evaluate both the quality and originality as well as the merit of the content of the articles.

4) The evaluation will consider the following aspects: specific contribution of the work to the area of knowledge, justification of the arguments, congruence between the objectives of the work and its development, application of adequate methodology according to the object, conclusions based on the analysis carried out, due use or management of sources, bibliographic references, among others that are pertinent.

5) The peer reviewers will have a period of 20 days to issue their decision. The Editorial Committee may request authors to complement, modify or adapt their articles to the evaluation carried out by the experts, being able, as a result of said process, to reject articles that are sent for publication. The final decision on the publication of the articles will not exceed a period of six months.

6) The response of the referees can be: publish with minor modifications, publish with major modifications or not publish. The referees' observations are evaluated by the Editorial Committee, which informs the corresponding author in writing of the decision to continue or not in the publication process and whether or not the manuscript should be evaluated again by the referees. When the manuscript is accepted, the editorial committee of the Revista EIA sends the corresponding author a letter of acceptance of the manuscript, indicating the type of modification it would need if applicable. In no more than three weeks, the corresponding author must return a modified version to the journal, so that the editorial committee can analyze the corrected manuscript.

7) A manuscript may be rejected by the Editorial Committee in any of the instances of the editorial process, either for substantive reasons or in a way that does not comply with the instructions for the authors.

8) The author indicated in the correspondence will receive a PDF for the final review before printing, which must be returned corrected as soon as possible (within 48 hours). This step is intended to detect typographical, spelling, or form errors. Corrections that affect the content or that modify the article in its original sense will not be accepted. If these proofs are not received within the established period, the Drafting Committee will not be responsible for any error or omission that may be published.

9) In the event of suspicion of unethical or dishonest conduct on the part of the authors who have submitted their manuscript to the editing process, the Revista EIA reserves the right to inform the sponsoring institutions or other relevant authorities so that they can carry out the corresponding investigation.

Publication frequency

The Revista EIA is a scientific publication, an open access journal, with biannual periodicity, whose purpose is to publish articles on science and research findings, above all in the field of engineering, technological development and innovation.

The papers that are presented to the Revista EIA must adhere to the presentation rules that are formulated below. Otherwise, the Editor or the Editorial Committee of the Revista EIA reserves the right to accept for publication works that do not adhere to the editorial standards. The Revista EIA reserves the right to make changes to the original text.

1) The Revista EIA only accepts for evaluation and eventual publication, original and unpublished manuscripts, of direct realization and exclusive authorship of the author, that do not violate or usurp the copyright of third parties. A careful revision of the texts is recommended, in order to avoid including citations or transcriptions of works that are not properly referenced. To verify the similarity of a manuscript, the Revista EIA uses the Turnitin software, if it exceeds 10% similarity, it does not go to the editorial process until the authors lower that indicator.

2) The Editorial Board recommends authors to write their text in English, as this will increase international visibility and citation, both for the authors and for the Revista EIA. The Revista EIA accepts original and unpublished works in Spanish, English and Portuguese.

3) The presentation of an manuscript must be accompanied by a "cover letter", requesting its publication in the journal, stating that the article is approved by all authors, in which they must recommend possible referees (2 national and 2 international) for the topic presented; and if necessary attach copies of the permissions to reproduce material already published.

Note: The Revista EIA does not make royalty payments for copyright, in case an article is presented that requires this, the Revista EIA will notify the corresponding author to withdraw the article from the editorial process, in case of refusal it is will proceed to reject such manuscript.

4) In writing, each author must confirm that the submitted manuscript is original and unpublished, that it is not under consideration by another journal or under study for publication in other forms, such as monograph, book chapter or website, and that it is not will present it for publication in another medium until Revista EIA makes a decision. (Fill out the originality letter format).

5) In case of detecting plagiarism, the Revista EIA will immediately reject the submitted article regardless of the phase of the editorial process in which it is found, in accordance with the laws and regulations in force, the legal procedure will be followed and the corresponding authority will be informed.

Declaration of Publishing Ethics and Best Practices for Editors

Management of conflicts of interest

Conflicts of interest occur when there are external situations that affect, or are perceived to affect, the neutrality or objectivity of the Revista EIA publications. This can happen at any stage of the editorial process, including during the manuscript preparation phase, while writing a manuscript, or during the process of converting a manuscript into a published article.

Conflicts of interest do not always prevent the manuscript in question from being published or someone from being involved in the review process. However, they must be declared. A transparent statement of all possible conflicts, whether they were influential or not, allows others to make decisions about the manuscript and its review process.

If conflicts of interest are found after publication, this can be cumbersome for the authors, the editor, and the Revista EIA. It may be necessary to reevaluate the review process or publish a corrigendum or retraction.

Some common conflicts include:

Personal: A pre-existing relationship induces an individual to act inappropriately.

Financial: A person receives a payment related to the topic of research or from related organizations.

Intellectual Property: An individual places undue emphasis on patents or trademarks owned or owned by their organization.

Affiliations: An individual is employed by, or is a member of, an organization with an interest in the outcome of the research.

Ideology: An individual is influenced by beliefs or associations related to the research topic.

Careful consideration should be given to how these and similar issues may affect a person or group of persons outside the EIA Journal, and how they may affect other persons involved in handling the manuscript.

Autorhs

Conflicts for authors are most often associated with risk of orientation in a manuscript. As an author, if you have any interest or association that may influence your decision-making process, you must ensure that it is declared at the time of the presentation of the manuscript to the Revista EIA.

You may be required to make certain changes to your manuscript as a result of your statement. These petitions are not an accusation of impropriety. The editor or reviewer is helping you protect your work from criticism.

If you are in any doubt about declaring a potential conflict, remember that if it is disclosed later, especially after publication, it could cause more problems than simply declaring it at filing time. Undeclared conflicts of interest can lead to a correction or, in the most serious cases, a retraction.

Regardless of whether or not you believe that there is a conflict of interest, you will be asked to include a statement in your manuscript. If you believe there are no conflicts, you will be asked to confirm this in writing.

 Artificial Intelligence and Authorship
The Revista EIA welcomes the COPE manifesto about the non-acceptance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) management tools as author or co-author of a manuscript sent to the magazine. For your knowledge we take advantage of this manifesto:

"The use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT or Large Language Models in research publications is expanding rapidly. COPE joins organizations including WAME and JAMA Network, among others, in declaring that AI tools cannot be listed as the author of an article.

AI tools cannot meet authoring requirements as they cannot take responsibility for submitted work. As persons without legal personality, they cannot affirm the presence or absence of conflicts of interest or manage licensing and copyright agreements.

Authors who use AI tools in writing a manuscript, producing images or graphic elements of the article, or in data collection and analysis, should be transparent when disclosing in the Materials and Methods (or similar section) from the article how the AI tool was used and which tool was used. Authors are fully responsible for the content of their manuscript, including those parts produced by an AI tool, and are therefore liable for any breach of publication ethics." Editors

As a member of the Editorial Committee or editor-in-chief, or associate editor of the Revista EIA, you should be well aware of the risk of having a conflict of interest when handling a manuscript.

First, you need to assess your own potential conflicts. If you have recently co-authored with the author of the manuscript, it may be perceived that you are influenced by their relationship. Similarly, if you have recently shared an affiliation or employment history with the author, it could also be considered inappropriate for you to handle their work. The Revista EIA intends to avoid assigning articles to editors that may have conflicts, but we also expect our editors to declare any conflicts. If you think there is a conflict, you should refuse to handle the manuscript.

You should also consider potential conflicts when assigning the manuscript to reviewers. The Revista EIA performs conflict of interest checks on all reviewers before they receive the manuscript for review, but you must also rely on their knowledge of the industry to inform the tasks you perform.

If you are concerned about a potential reviewer, consider naming someone else. If you think a reviewer's recommendation for a manuscript was made to advance your own interests, you can tell the authors that they don't need to address that point.

We are aware that certain specialized areas may imply a greater probability of association and overlap between researchers. In some cases, you may be the person best positioned to act as editor despite a connection to the author or authors. In this case, you must inform to Revista EIA that this is the present situation.

Reviewers

By accepting peer review of a manuscript, you are providing an essential neutral assessment. As such, you need to ensure that you have no conflicts of interest that can be seen to prevent you from acting impartially.

You must ensure that you do not have a recent association with the author and that you have not previously co-authored with them. You also must not have a recent shared employment history.

The Revista EIA uses the "double blind" review method for peer review. Your name will not be available to the authors. This allows you to provide honest and relevant feedback.

Authorship and contribution

Authorship

It is recommended that authorship be based on the following four criteria:

• Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis or interpretation of data for the work; AND
• Writing of the work or critical review of important intellectual content; AND
• Final approval of the version to be published. AND
• Responsible for all aspects of the work to ensure that questions regarding the accuracy or completeness of any part of the work are investigated and resolved appropriately.

In addition to being responsible for the parts of the work they have done, the author must be able to identify which co-authors are responsible for other specific parts of the work. Additionally, authors must have confidence in the integrity of their co-authors' contributions.

We include only one corresponding author per article. Any additional contribution details (e.g. equal contribution) should be included in the contributors or acknowledgment sections in the originality letter sent by the corresponding author.

The Revista EIA requires that all those designated as authors meet the four criteria presented above for authorship, and all those who meet all four criteria must be identified as authors. We recognize only natural persons as authors. These authorship criteria are intended to reserve authorship status for those who deserve credit and can take responsibility for the work. The criteria are not intended to be used as a means of disqualifying authorship colleagues who otherwise meet the authorship criteria by denying them the opportunity to meet criteria number 2 or 3. Therefore, all People who meet the first criterion should have the opportunity to participate in the review, writing and final approval of the manuscript.

The people doing the manuscript are responsible for identifying who meets these criteria, and ideally they should do so when planning the work, making appropriate modifications as the work progresses. The corresponding author takes primary responsibility for communication with the journal during manuscript submission, peer review, and publication process, and generally ensures that all journal administrative requirements such as authorship details, approval the ethics committee, the clinical trial registration documentation, and the compilation of conflict of interest forms and statements are properly completed, although these duties may be delegated to one or more co-authors.

When a large group of authors has completed the work, ideally the group will decide who will be the corresponding author before the work begins and confirm who that author is before submitting the manuscript for publication. All members of the group named as authors must meet the four criteria for authorship, including approval of the final manuscript, and must be able to assume public responsibility for the work and must have full confidence in the accuracy and integrity of the work of other authors of the group. As individuals, you are also expected to complete conflict of interest disclosure forms.

The Revista EIA  trusts that the corresponding authors assure us that all the authors included in an article meet the authorship criteria. Additionally, they ensure that no one else meets the criteria, but was not listed as an author.

When we find disagreements between authors, we follow the guidance of the Committee on Publications Ethics: https://publicationethics.org/

Contribution

The Revista EIA lists potential contributors in two ways.

First, we post a list of the authors' names at the beginning of the document, and second, we list potential contributors (some of whom may not be listed as authors) at the end of the document, giving details of who did what. in planning. Performance and report of work. This is a good place to include contributions from patients or members of the public who have attended as research volunteers, giving their specific names and roles. We encourage authors to fully acknowledge the contribution of patients and the public to their research where appropriate.

One or more of these contributors are listed as guarantors of the document. The guarantor accepts full responsibility for the work and/or conduct of the study, had access to the data, and controlled the decision to publish.
