En este documento se hace un recorrido por la visión que se ha tenido en los últimos tiempos sobre la flexibilidad en manufactura. En primera instancia, se introduce el tema, estableciendo la base necesaria para entender la importancia de las estrategias empresariales y su impacto en las ventajas competitivas de cualquier organización. Luego se aclara la flexibilidad como estrategia del sistema de producción y la estructura interna que tiene este concepto. Teniendo bien definidos los anteriores elementos, se procede a identificar los tipos de flexibilidad y se muestran indicadores que de una u otra forma dan claridad de cómo puede medirse en los sistemas de producción. Por último, con ejemplos, se muestran claramente los diferentes elementos y algunos métodos de medición, que aportarán en la aplicación del concepto de flexibilidad en la manufactura colombiana.
Abstract: This paper provides an overview of the accepted vision in recent times on the issue of flexibility in manufacturing. Firstly, the topic is introduced, establishing the basis for understanding the importance of corporate strategies and their impact on the competitive advantages of any organization. Then, we explain the flexibility as a strategy of the production system and the internal structure of this concept. Taking these elements well defined, we proceed to identify the types of flexibility and some indicators that explain how to measure in production systems. Finally, through examples, we show the different concepts and some methods of measurement, to contribute in the implementation of the concept of flexibility in the Colombian manufacturing.
